Mobile threat defense (MTD) is a category of security solutions that are designed to protect mobile devices from cyber threats, including malware, phishing, network attacks, and device vulnerabilities. MTD solutions use techniques like machine learning, behavioral analysis, and threat intelligence to detect and block malicious networks, vulnerable OS, and phishing attempts.
MTD solutions are most often deployed with a mobile device management (MDM) integration. But unlike MDMs, which focus on policy enforcement, MTD defends against threats by analyzing links, device configurations, and suspicious network traffic. MTD is often utilized to secure corporate mobile environments, especially bring your own device (BYOD) and corporate-owned personally-enabled (COPE) environments where personal and corporate data coexist on the same device.
While MTD helps in managing mobile threats, they do not provide comprehensive app security. Learn more about how Q-scout integrates with MDMs to provide the mobile app threat intelligence necessary for today’s threat landscape.
